Lobby meeting with Mukti Samaj
The president of Society for the liberation of oppressed caste Nepal, Jitu Gautam from the CPN-UML declared to ensure the meaningful participation of Dalit women in every sector of the development under 33% of General women. He made the commitment to bring at least 50 Dalit women in the central executive committee in the 6th General Assembly of the society
He also informed that the oppressed caste Nepal society constituent of 125 members, among which there are 25 Dalit women. With this pace, he made the commitment to increase the number of seats for Dalit women to at least 50.
He have thought of having continuous lobby as the representative of the oppressed caste Nepal society to bring up Dalit women in the leading position of at least 33% through the assembly.
Among the representatives in the leading position of the society, only one Dalit women named Teku Nepali was elected as a senior central vice president.
What is the situation of Dalit women in the community? What are the polices and the programs that the community has conducted for Dalit women? What are programs that have brought up by the association for the meaningful participation of Dalit women?
What are the efforts made by the oppressed caste Nepal society to bring Dalit women in the central as well as to make them active participate in the politics? For this reason, FEDO had an interaction with the Dalit women leaders of different political parties.
In the interaction program, the secretary of FEDO, Kala swarnakar highlighted on the work of FEDO, meeting with leaders, efforts of FEDO to have involvement of Dalit women in the politics, FEDO’s objectives and upcoming plans of the organization. She said that until and unless Dalit women get the executive role in the politics, the development of the society is close to impossible.
In the program, the central general secretary of society of liberation kept his views on their policies, plans, rules and regulations of the state for the Dalit women and their endeavor to improve the socio-political rights.
He also added that although there has been reservation for Dalit women through 8 the General assembly, there have come eight Dalit men in the central executive committee due to the existing discrimination within the party. By then he added that this mistake will not be repeated in the 9th General Assembly. He also urged Teku Nepali to be prepared for the upcoming Assembly. He said that he will conduct the lobby in order have separate reservation seat for Dalit women through 10th General assembly.
Likewise, the other politicians shared about the situation of Dalit women and their accessibility in the development sector of the nation.
