Addressing the agendas of Dalit women

On July 11, laxmi kumarai chaudhary, CA member of resource management committee the commitment to address the issues of Dalit and Dalit women in the new constitution.

She also made the commitment to conduct the interaction meeting with the Dalit civil society and with the committees of the five thematic areas of the constitution with regard to the issues of Dalit and Dalit women and will have the discussion on the condition of constitution’s five thematic committee and the inclusion issues.

In the discussion, Pramila Rana, President of suggestion committee of CA informed about the process of making of constitution is going on and also informed about the action plan to compile the suggestion from the citizens of 75 districts.

She also suggested FEDO and other organization to have the regular interaction with the constitution’s committee members also informed FEDO that the committee has been collecting the suggestion from 240 electoral regions of 75 districts.

The committee will prepare the draft on the basis of the compiled suggestion for the district and will send to the constitution draft committee. On the basis of the second draft, the agendas of the Dalit community will be addressed and made the commitment to have the direct and indirect involvement of Dalit community during the process of suggestion collection.

In the discussion, the other CA members also informed about the work that has been going on in the different committee on the issues of Dalit and Dalit women.

With the facilitation of FEDO’s president, Durga Sob expressed her disappointment for not having the leadership of political parties on the issues of Dalit and Dalit women. She urged them to take the issues of Dalit and Dalit women as the major area of concerns.

She made the commitment to have the regular interaction with the constituent’s thematic committee, civil society, political party, leaders and other related stakeholders in order to ensure and address the issues of Dalit and Dalit women in the new constitution.

In the program, several Dalit women leaders, representatives of civil society, advocate, and journalist and Dalit activist had their participation with the total number of 60.
